The New Moon

The New Moon of January 2014 is unbelievable, in terms of power and possibilities. On January 1st, we have 7 Planets out of 10 involved in a Cardinal Grand Cross that can be one of the most liberating aspects in decades. A New Moon is when the Sun and Moon are conjunct, both connected in the same sign, and is exact when they are at the same degree within that sign, in this case Capricorn. They then strengthen and enhance each other. Added to that, Mercury, the Planet of communication is also in Capricorn, very close to the Sun and Moon, granting greater mental clarity and expression.The Sun, the Moon and Mercury are all at about 11 degrees of Capricorn. Now we add Pluto, the alchemical Planet, the Planet of death and rebirth, ALSO at 11 degrees of Capricorn. Wow. So the Planet that rules radical release, joins the other 3.

Joining the party is Uranus, the Great Awakener, the freedom Planet, squaring those four at almost 9 degrees of Aries. Squares are generally seen as both motivating and frictional. So a strong desire to be liberated ( Uranus) from whatever is holding us back, ( Pluto) at any cost. And speaking of a strong desire, here comes our 7th player, Mars. Mars is at 11 degrees of Libra, in opposition to Uranus and also squaring the big four in Capricorn. Holy smokes. And I do mean smokes. Mars rules fire, weapons of all kinds, passion, desire. What do I want? The Second Chakra, which creates life. The opportunity here is to break free from old patterns that bind us, limit us, with the courage that Mars brings to the table.

And finally, we have Jupiter, the Planet of Sacred Law, the Guardian of Truth, at 16 degrees of Cancer, in opposition to the big four in Capricorn, and squaring Mars in Libra and Uranus in Aries. The question for each of us, and for humanity as a whole, is do we have the courage ( Mars) to face the Truth, ( Jupiter), to liberate ourselves ( Uranus) from the chains of our subconscious beliefs ( Moon/Pluto). And to speak that Truth, ( Mercury), and move forward.

The Solstice

December 21st is the Winter Solstice, the official beginning of Winter. A Sacred day in many traditions, people travel from all over the world to Stonehenge to see the sunrise, where the two largest Sentinal Stones frame the Sun exactly, as it rises. Some have called Stonehenge ” The Giants Dance”, or “The Dance.” Set on some of the most powerful Ley Lines on Earth, ( Earth Mothers Meridians ), the Magic of Stonehenge, and the people who created it to mark these Celestial events cannot be denied.

This is a time of great Celestial power. Currents of electromagnetic energies are amplified. There are usually more transitions made around a Solstice, Souls coming in and Souls going home. If such is the case in your life, with a loved one, whether 2-legged or 4-legged returning home to the Light of Spirit, I send you prayers. Even though we know that endings here are a part of the Sacred Hoop of Life, and a part of that Souls experience, we still grieve. My message tonight is that Love is eternal, that we will always remain connected in the Heart to all those we have loved. They are not gone. They, and we, are Travelers through Space and Time, on a wondrous journey. A Cosmic adventure, the scope of which most peoples analytical minds can’t even conceive of.

At this time, Portals are opening to other dimensions, other realms, ushering in new and amazing possibilities. Do not allow fear of the unknown to limit you. For what is the unknown, after all, but some incredible miracle waiting to show itself. The very thing we may have been waiting for.

Be Kind to Yourself

The Holidays can be a wonderful time. They can also be enormously stressful. Trying to get everything done, lists on top of lists… People rushing around.. For some reason, the Holidays can bring out the best in some people and the worst in others. If you are in any kind of retail business you can testify to this.

During this time, any unhealed family of origin issues may be triggered. Being around family during the Holidays can be either lovely, or feel like torture, depending. Try to avoid hot-button topics like politics or religion if at all possible. If we have expectations of a Norman Rockwell painting kind of Christmas, we may be disappointed. I try to create my own magic, transforming my home into a sparkly sanctuary, with twinkle lights and candles, and decorations that express my Spiritual path. For instance, I always have an artificial Tree, because in Shamanism we respect all living things, and it would never occur to me to drag the dead body of one of the Standing People into my home and hang ornaments on the corpse. Macabre, to say the least. But I do enjoy the representation of the Standing People, and I use Totem Animal ornaments. Butterfly is one of mine, so my tree is covered with glittering, sparkling Butterflies. I also love feathers, so I use real and artificial Peacock Feathers. And finally, Stars. I use Star Garland, both purple and gold, clouds of sparkling Stars, both on the Tree, and all around the house, wrapped around the Crystals, bookcases, bakers racks, everywhere, with twinkle lights flashing. This way, no matter where I look, I see magic. No matter how people choose to behave in the world outside my doors, inside, I am reminded that it’s a magical Universe of my own creation, and none of anyone else’s drama can touch me if I don’t allow it to. And I don’t.

So make your own magic, it doesn’t take much money, candles and ribbons and glitter, but most of all, LOVE. Be kind to yourself. Play music you love, light some candles, some Sage or Frankincense, have some tea, and celebrate all that you are, a child of the Stars, enjoying this temporary human experience. I send you all Love, Light, and Laughter.
