The Joke

Music has been like oxygen for my soul over my entire life. It moves me, it nurtures me, it inspires me, it heals me. Yesterday I heard a song that did all of those things for me. It’s by an artist I love, Brandi Carlile. It’s called “ The Joke”. After I finished sobbing, I found an interview with her, where she talked about the lyrics, and why she felt compelled to write this song. She spoke of the things happening in the country right now, the bullying, the discrimination, the shattered dreams of little girls after the election, the bias against immigrants, refusing them sanctuary. It was a powerful interview. The lyrics came from her heart. They certainly touched mine. Here they are.

“ You’re feeling nervous, aren’t you, boy?                                                                                                                 With your quiet voice and impeccable style.

Don’t ever let them steal your joy.                                                                                                                                And your gentle ways, to keep ‘em from running wild.

They can kick dirt in your face                                                                                                                                   Dress you down, and tell you that your place is in the middle, when they hate the way you shine.                           I see you tugging on your shirt, trying to hide inside of it and hide how much it hurts.

Let ‘em laugh while they can, let ‘em spin, let ‘em scatter in the wind.                                                                      I have been to the movies, I’ve seen how it ends.                                                                                                       And the joke’s on them.

You get discouraged, don’t you, girl?                                                                                                                         It’s your brother’s world for a little longer.

We gotta dance with the devil on a river, to beat the stream.                                                                                     Call it living the dream, call it kicking the ladder.

They come to kick dirt in your face,                                                                                                                           To call you weak and then displace you

After carrying your baby on your back across the desert.                                                                                            I saw your eyes behind your hair, and you’re looking tired, but you don’t look scared.

Let ‘em laugh while they can, let ‘em spin, let ‘em scatter in the wind                                                                     I have been to the movies, I’ve seen how it ends.                                                                                                       And the joke’s on them.

Let ‘em laugh while they can, let ‘em spin, let ‘em scatter in the wind.                                                                        I have been to the movies, I’ve seen how it ends.                                                                                                       And the joke’s on them. “

Actually, the joke is on them. In spite of their greed, their hunger for power, the cover-ups, lies, abuse, discrimination, religious fanaticism, misogyny, more than ever before we are coming together, standing up for each other, the planet, marching, forming movements. We see children mobilizing, protesting gun laws that are causing this country to have the highest death rate from guns in the world. Women are refusing to accept abuse and harassment as a fact of life, coming forward, no longer silent, fierce and fearless. We are demanding equal pay, equal rights, and equal opportunities.

The joke is on them, because their treachery is being uncovered. Trump has become a laughingstock around the world, his name a punchline and a synonym for idiocy. No one outruns the Karma police. Those that live from cruelty and sadism always come to a bad end. Look at history.

To those of us who choose to live from love, in spite of experiencing sexual abuse, domestic violence, bullying, racism, misogyny, or discrimination, own your strength, your honor, your courage, and compassion. You are amazing. You are a miracle.

The joke’s on the dark ones, because they have only made us stronger, and more determined to prevail. Even those they have been able to kill, live on, their teachings inspiring generations, while the offenders fade into nothingness, a footnote in history.

We stand together, one heart, rising up, invincible. They can’t stop us. Nothing stops love. Nothing stops compassion and mercy. The light always triumphs over darkness. May this song uplift your spirit as it has mine. I send love to all souls who have survived these trials, and to those experiencing these things now, we are with you. Thank you to Brandi Carlile, Philip John Hanseroth, Timothy J. Hanseroth, and David W. Jr Cobb for this incredible  anthem.

The official video of this song is on YouTube. It’s worth watching. Blessings, Judith

March Monthly Forecast

Karol Bak, artist.

March starts off with a Full Moon, 3/1, with the Sun in Pisces opposing the Moon in Virgo. With Venus trine to Jupiter, we can expect a day of Justice, the law being upheld, optimism, faith renewed, and good news. Saturn trines the Moon, so patience is rewarded.

3/4 is excellent, with the Sun in Pisces conjunct to Neptune in Pisces. Neptune rules the Astral Plane, and Divine Love. This is a wonderful day to reflect, to go within, to meditate. 3/6 is even better, with the Moon in Scorpio trine to the Sun and Neptune in Pisces, while it forms a sextile to alchemical Pluto. This is great for magical intention work, and for healing old wounds, since Pluto rules the Shadow self. Dream the life you want. 3/7 is another winner, where the Moon moves into fiery Sagittarius, trining Venus and Mercury. This encourages passion, and a willingness to speak ( Mercury) from the heart ( Venus).

3/11, 3/12, and 3/13 are all good, with numerous planets supporting optimism, the willingness to change, and self esteem.

The New Moon on the 17th, with the Sun and Moon conjunct at 27 degrees of Pisces, is magical. This is a day of infinite possibilities. The Vernal Equinox is on 3/20, as the Sun enters Aries. This is also a seriously magical day. We have some lovely aspects, as well as moving into the Wood Element in Chinese Medicine. The Wood Element is about change. It’s about movement forward, momentum, and choices. What changes do you need to make? Now is the time.

Mercury turns retrograde on 3/22. I know, so annoying. Speaking of annoying, 3/24 calls for patience and slowing down the impulse to squash people like a bug. The Sun squares Mars, the planet of aggression and haste, while the Moon opposes it. Lovely. Everyone is a cranky pants, so try not to engage.

The 28th is wonderful, with trines galore. This is good, because the month ends with a Full Moon again, another Blue Moon, with the Sun in Aries opposing the Moon in Libra. This Full Moon is not as warm and fuzzy as the first one this month. For the twenty four hour period around it, stay grounded, patient, and calm. Let people do what they’re going to do, believe what they want to believe. Don’t engage, rescue, or try to convince anyone of anything. Let go. Let go. Let go.

March looks to be an amazing month, full of blessings and wonderful opportunities for growth. Welcome the springtime, the Wood Element, and the new momentum. It’s awesome. Blessings to all, Judith

Obsidian Dreams

Obsidian

Obsidian has always been one of my favorite stones, for a number of reasons. It is formed from volcanic activity, literally forged in fire. It is one of the most alchemical and shamanic stones that there is, providing a living link to the Void, as well as powerful psychic protection. Obsidian vibrates to the planet Pluto, the ultimate alchemist. In Chinese medicine, Obsidian is said to strengthen the Kidneys, the home of the Will, the Void, the supernatural, and the mystical. It rules the Root Chakra, the Chakra that has to do with survival issues, faith, trust, and feeling safe. Obsidian supports all of that.

I bought my first Obsidian pendant 30 years ago. I’ve had a love affair with Obsidian for most of my life. I place it in the four directions in my office, as well as having it at the head of my bed and on the altar table in my room.  One of my guides teaches that it is the only stone that can dismantle negative alien energetic patterns, and return them to the Void. Powerful.

I just received a shipment of seven 2 1/2” silver sheen Obsidian Spheres, ( I was completely sold out of that size, having only the 5” and 6” Spheres left.) I also received seven more Rainbow Obsidian pendants set in Sterling Silver,( the last one that I had sold today, so, perfect timing. ) I still have Obsidian bracelets in stock, I bought ten of those last month. They just fly out of here. I also have Obsidian Heart sculptures available.

I buy all of my Obsidian from a dealer in Mexico, the home of the best Obsidian in the world. I was able to reach him at the Tucson show, right before it closed. So, my shipment arrived last week, and I will be listing it over the next few days. I’m so happy to have more of this magical stone person available. Sometimes I see it in my dreams. ( Those are magical dreams.) I love Obsidian. There’s nothing like it. You can never have too much magic, in my opinion. Blessings, Judith
